Norton System Works - Symantec’s Norton System Works 2005 is the smart way for you to solve computer problems and protect your valuable data

Norton System Works is easy-to-use software that helps you eliminate viruses, prevent computer problems, and restore your system to a healthy state.

Installation is easy, but does require at least 200 MB plus of hard drive space. If you include the options, you will need more hard drive space. For example Ghost 9.0 will demand some considerable room and Go Back will need some space as well.

Of course, there is the choice of installing only those options you wish. However, if you choose Go Back, it will require a separate installation.

What is the difference between Norton SystemWorks 2005 and the Premier edition? The Premier Edition features the inclusion of one program. That program is Ghost 9.0. Both products feature Norton AntiVirus 2005, but neither contains the AntiSpam or the Firewall.

Following tradition (for whatever the reason may be), Symantec has opted to not include their entire product line into one package. If you want total protection, you will need to include Premier Pro and Norton Security.

As previously mentioned, Norton SystemWorks, Premiere Edition, also includes a complete version of Ghost 9.0. Ghost 9.0 is a program favored by pros. One of the reasons is that it allows you to create a duplicate drive that copies the contents of the source. All of the data of a hard drive can be saved to a partition, a CD, DVD, or USB device, a Firewire device or onto a network drive.

You can create a backup without restarting Windows, so incremental and scheduled back-ups are possible. What this means is now you can store the entire contents of a drive efficiently.

System Optimizer One is a new tool added to the Norton System Works 2005 series. It is a collection operating system tweaks that control appearance, security access, and other operating system features.

If you are a comparison shopper, you will likely want to compare computer security features offered by other vendors. With over 35 million users, Zone-Alarm is designed to protect your DSL- or cable-connected PC from hackers, and is worth a look.
