Norton utilities – utility suites are advertised as being the be-all, end-all solution to nearly every computing problem under the sun. The good news is Norton products, described as simple and powerful, have many dependable features that meet the industrys tough standards

Norton utilities cover a wide range of solutions to issues and problems that constantly present themselves in today’s complex computing environment.

Some of them are briefly covered for you here.

For one of its latest version of Norton utilities, Symantec has enhanced GoBack with plenty of new features, including the ability to revert to old versions of individual files rather than  restoring the entire Windows operating system to its state before a change was made. This one feature alone makes GoBack a vital utility for all PC users.

This standalone utility is also available as part of Norton’s  SystemWorks 2005, which includes Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities and CheckIt Diagnostics.

Norton offers utilities that continually rise to the challenges presented by today's internet, an electronic maze that's filled with viruses, worms, hackers, and Trojan horses. These threats are identified and caught by Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition. This program is almost identical to the standard version of Norton Internet Security 2005, setting aside its spyware and adware detection and removal features.

Symantec's Norton Internet Security 2005 includes Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall, Norton Privacy Control, Norton AntiSpam, and Norton Parental Control.

To protect your computer from viruses, one of the many Norton utilities, Norton Anti-Virus scans a PC's hard drive for viruses, recognizes viruses in e-mail and data files, and offers options to delete, clean, or quarantine infected files. The software blocks viruses in instant message attachments and scans and cleans incoming and outgoing email messages, including attached compressed files. This program automatically updates its virus signature files and spyware definitions through Symantec's LiveUpdate service.

Norton Firewall, another one of Norton utilities, effectively places a barrier between the internet and your PC to protect it from hackers and prevent them from accessing your priceless data files. The firewall analyzes network and internet traffic and restricts network communications between a PC and the outside world, preventing exploitation by Trojan horses, HTTP attacks, denial of service, operating system vulnerabilities, and e-mail worms.

Unwanted e-mail?

Norton AntiSpam works well with Microsoft Outlook and most popular client e-mail programs. This Norton utility looks at incoming e-mail, identifies those that are spam, and plunks them into a spam folder. Legitimate e-mails placed in your spam folder? No problem, just tell Norton to allow e-mail from this sender the next time by invoking an "Allowed List". Many more features distinguish this as another one of Norton utilities.

Two more Norton utilities worthy of a quick mention is Norton Privacy Control. Introduced in the 2005 version, confidential information is prevented from being sent out without your knowledge in mediums such as Microsoft Office attachments, Web forms, email, or instant messages. Norton Parental Control effectively blocks access to Web sites and newsgroups that you consider unsuitable for children.

As a first line of defense against the internet's evils, Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition is an effective and reliable product that can stand guard at your PC's internet doorway.
